Hi there! have had Type 1 for 50 years this August. My diabetes is currently managed by carb. counting & a pump.
 
Hi Liz, welcome to the forum 🙂 50 years? Wow! We have quite a few members with a few decades behind them, so feel free to reminisce about rusty needles and boiled urine (or whatever used to go on back in the day 😉).

We've also got quite a few pumpers - what pump do you have? You must have seen quite a few changes in care over the years.

Thanks to everyone for their warm welcome-much appreciated! Apparently according to my Diabetes Consultant & Diabetes UK I get a "medal" to commemorate my having had Diabetes for 50 years! Northerner-my pump is an Accu-Chek Spirit Combo which I've had for 4 years. Lost the hypo warning signs so it was thought that a pump would help me regain the symptoms. I class my pump as my best friend & wouldn't want to be without it now!

Ooooh - your pump is due for replacement then Liz! I can't wait - getting my new 'Insight' soon !
