Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello All. I have been miss behaving with type 2 for far to long. Sleeping through it I think. But awakened these last few weeks. Searching the hundreds of questions I have had. And no doubt more to come. Thank you for reading and sharing.

Welcome @Ada 🙂 Ask anything you want here. Nothing is too trivial or ‘silly’.

I am new to joining sites so please be patient.
We usually can be! - we'd much rather explain things lots of times than have anyone misunderstand. The advantage here is eg if I answered a Q and the person can't grasp my answer, someone else will step in and explain the same thing in a different way - and we have several thousand members so eventually, we will get through! 🙂 🙂

I am feeling so overwhelmed. Losing weight and foods isn’t a problem. Only been truly strict with food these last two weeks. Gone from meter readings of 20 to 12. Eating the very same things every day just because it’s been giving me lower readings. Yet twice it’s said 20 again. And reading on here is making me feel such a failure and deflated. As a pensioner I thought I was quite intelligent but I struggle understanding where I am going wrong.

Might not be anything you're doing. It's possible you just need different medication (either a higher dose or something different). People vary.

To find out if there are particular meals or foods that are a problem then people find testing before they eat and after 2 hours will tell them if the meal has been well tolerated if the increase is less than 2-3mmol/l. If you can keep to that then your overall levels should start to come down. If it is more then your meal is too carb heavy and you can try reducing the portion size of the high carb component or making some substitution with something lower carb.
Keeping a food diary of everything you eat and drink alongside your readings can help to see any problem foods.
Have a look at this link as you might spot some areas where you can find some ideas for dietary change. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
