Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi my name is Pam, soon to be 68 years but trying to feel younger. I live in Cheshire
I'm type 2 and have only been for four years.
I am a power wheelchair user with limited upper body strength so cannot exercise. I would love to hear from anyone.

Hi Pam, welcome to the forum 🙂 it would be great to hear a bit more about how you manage your diabetes? Everyone here is really friendly so do feel free to ask any questions :D

Hi Cathy and Helen
Scousebird, a fellow scouser I presume lol.
I also have diverticula disease so managing food is really awkward, I'm not a food lover, in fact I don't like spices or sauces, unless they are ketchup or salad cream. I can only eat greens, lettuce or garden peas in moderation. Other greens I don't like. I eat some fish, mackerel or cod, no meat or poultry as I just can't stand the taste. So manangimg my diabetes is a truly hit and miss thing. I'm only drinking water as of yesterday morning
as I just can't drink anything hot and I have gone off the fruit juices to dilute.
I hope this isn't too mosh mash to make sense of as my eyes are tired and I've been doing a lot of reading on the site.

Welcome to the forum Pam from a fellow T2 who's 3.5 years in.

Thank you Ralph.
I to am on Metformin twice a day. I hate taking them they're like horse tablets and I have a bit of difficulty swallowing them lol

Yes, although I live in Kent now.
Sorry to hear bout your problems with food. My OH has diverticular disease but not badly, it affects him now and again. He is also T2 but after being really good has lapsed a little with his HbA1c.

Thank you Ralph.

I was like that to begin with but soon got used to them, still need loads of liquid to get them down though (preferably gin or wine lol)

Thank you, it's normal for me apparently mum said I was really bad at eating from the off lol. Luckily I'm not a cake, chocolate or sweet lover, though sometimes I do tuck in on a very rare occasion.
Trying to keep everything under control is a pain but hey ho such is life!
I can't get used to the metformin at all, and seeing as I don't drink I can't have that added pleasure either. Isn't life fun!
