Hi all, best way to start is my story I guess.
I have been diabetic for 19 years (29 now), never really had too good a grip on the condition but always knew the basics and what to avoid and how to stay out of trouble.
The reason I have finally joined the community is my one and a half year old was diagnosed with t1 diabetes in Jan. After many trips to the docs and a+e over Christmas, finally it was discovered that he had the same as his daddy. I don't know if it just hasn't sunk into me yet or if I just went straight into action mode to reassure my terrified fiancé that everything would be ok but I know deep down he has the condition from me.
Anyway, we are now roughly 4 months into this journey and the little guy is just amazing. Four injections a day and at least five blood tests a day, not a hassle to him, he cries more when we turn off paw patrol haha. Same as the fiancé and both sets of parents who are taking everything on board great. Great wee team who are somehow getting to grips with this one day at a time
Just thought I would say hello and sorry if I rambled on
