Hi all, best way to start is my story I guess.

I have been diabetic for 19 years (29 now), never really had too good a grip on the condition but always knew the basics and what to avoid and how to stay out of trouble.
The reason I have finally joined the community is my one and a half year old was diagnosed with t1 diabetes in Jan. After many trips to the docs and a+e over Christmas, finally it was discovered that he had the same as his daddy. I don't know if it just hasn't sunk into me yet or if I just went straight into action mode to reassure my terrified fiancé that everything would be ok but I know deep down he has the condition from me.

Anyway, we are now roughly 4 months into this journey and the little guy is just amazing. Four injections a day and at least five blood tests a day, not a hassle to him, he cries more when we turn off paw patrol haha. Same as the fiancé and both sets of parents who are taking everything on board great. Great wee team who are somehow getting to grips with this one day at a time

Just thought I would say hello and sorry if I rambled on

Hi Brian, welcome to the forum 🙂 I'm sorry to hear about your little one's diagnosis :( Please don't blame yourself, that won't be helpful to any of you, and no-one really knows why we get Type 1 diabetes. Whilst there is a genetic element, there are other unknowns at work.

The good news is that he is managing so well, and that you are getting such great support from all around you 🙂 Lots of lovely people here to help if you ever need to ask a question or let off steam 🙂 Please let us know if we can help, and let us know how he gets on 🙂

Hi and welcome 🙂

Hi Brian
Warm welcome to the forum.

Hi Brian, welcome to the gang. As Northie says any questions or you just want a rant, just fire away.

Hi Brian and welcome. I wish both you and your baby son well.
It's great to hear you both have lots of support. Hopefully you will benefit from this too.

Welcome. Good to hear how all the family are rallying round and working together on this. Any questions feel free to ask. There are loads of very helpful people on this forum, so someone appears with an answer pretty quickly.
