my name is colin been a type 2 for a few years was due to have a reversal as had bowel cancer that got postponed due to mml shot up to 110 so my diabetes nurse upped my medication to try and get back to 69 oh well thats life..........

Sorry to hear about your cancer. Have you managed to get that into remission now?

What meds are you on for your diabetes?
 
Yes cancer all gone so just got to get blood sugar level down now for my reversal as got the stoma bag. my medication is 500mg Metformin twice a day and 300mg canagliozin once a day so hopefully this will bring down, diabetes nurse said that have a blood test in 2/3 months time so the tablets can do their work

Hi, having been T2 diabetic for several years I was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the end of April this year. After surgery I am now on 2nd cycle of chemotherapy (thankfully tablets - not IV). My latest HbA1c reading is 41 mmo/mol! Could i possibly be in remission. Awaiting a telephone appointment with Nurse (now working "remotely"). Interestingly whilst in hospital, although I took all meds in, I was only given Atorvastatin daily - no Metformin, but was given my Trulicity pen to inject for the weekly dose! Confused.com !!

Glad to hear the treatment for your bowel cancer has been going well.

Current definitions of remission seem to vary slightly, but the most common one says that remission is 2 HbA1c checks below 48mmol/mol with no diabetes medication being used.

Congratulations on your terrific HbA1c! It shows your diabetes is being very well managed (which is not easy when you are dealing with another illness), and should vastly reduce the risks of any long term diabetes complications. Remission or not - keep going!

Thanks for replying - yes my diabetes does seem to be well under control - as does the Big C - not bad for a Senior Citizen!
