Welcome to the forum Mike
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but glad that you have found us.
I have learnt more from people on here than from anywhere else.
I was diagnosed with T1 in my 50s. There is a lot to learn very quickly, but it does get easier, and you end up developing a new ‘normal’ life. Do ask any questions that you have, and know that no questions are considered silly on here.
A book that I found very useful, and still do,is Type 1 Diabetes in Children Adolescents and Young Adults by Ragnar Hanas. It is well written, with clear explanations and well indexed. I still refer to it after 11 years.
Keep in touch and ask anything that you need to.
