do the pens need to be in a cool bag..so much info given to me in one go hard to take inKeep ALL insulin in your hand luggage @big bad bert This is not only because you don’t want it getting lost, but also because the low temperatures in the hold can damage it badly so that it’s either unusable or doesn’t work properly.
Take twice as much of everything as you think you’ll need.

yes i hope so....went to optition yesterday my eyes have got blured vision now....hope its the insulinHope your trip goes well @big bad bert
Yes, all insulin supplies in hand luggage to keep it safe from freezing.
Depending on which airline you are travelling with, you may be able to prebook an extra piece of hand luggage for medical supplies.
Sometimes you have to dig quite deep on the airline websites, but it may be in amongst information for travellers with medical conditions.
Have a fantastic time!

Blurred vision can be associated with high BG levels, and also when those levels begin to return towards a healthier range.
The nature of the fluids in the eye can be affected with changing glucose levels, meaning that the eye distorts, throwing things slightly out of focus.
Usually you are advised not to get glasses until your glucose levels have settled a bit.
What insulin(s) are you using? Generally, the pen you’re using can be kept out of the fridge. It’s only the pens waiting to be started that you need to keep cool. How long is your flight? You could Google Frio as they make wallets that help keep unopened insulin cool.I USE

got a 12 hour flight..Re Frio - I charged mine @helli Security didn’t even take it out or ask what it was (I didn’t know about the jelly explosive thing). They did ask about my pump though. The airport I flew from then explained they swabbed anything unusual plus the hands of the owner to check for explosives. This took only a few minutes and then I was on my way.
I do take a doctor’s letter with me and my prescription, and I mention all this as soon as I get to Security, explaining what I’m carrying and where it is and why. I’ve found Security excellent.
I would suspect it will be your glucose level dropping fairly quickly because you have started the insulin, this is something people can find as the shape of the eye changes because the internal environment will be changing back to 'salty' rather than 'sugary' so the focal length alters. It usually settles back to normal within a few weeks. I hope the optician did not suggest you buy expensive glasses as they will be useless when your eye readjust. You presumably told them you had started insulin.yes i hope so....went to optition yesterday my eyes have got blured vision now....hope its the insulin
yes told them insulin...no glases sold to me...luckily enoughI would suspect it will be your glucose level dropping fairly quickly because you have started the insulin, this is something people can find as the shape of the eye changes because the internal environment will be changing back to 'salty' rather than 'sugary' so the focal length alters. yes contacted them soon as i was put on it...i am a stage where i dont like driving..They're decent opticians then ! Because they know about what happens to eyes during diabetes, especially once the person gets it diagnosed and medication prescribed, they are not supposed to prescribe corrective lenses, knowing that once you get the BG under control, your eyesight will change again - so you'll have completely wasted their time and your money.
It was 5 or 6 weeks between my diagnosis and being able to see properly again. I couldn't drive then as it happened - not learnt yet - which is just as well !
Presume you've all told the DVLA you are now using insulin? Hope so, cos it's illegal not to.
Low cost alternative to cool bags (Frio, etc) is a used lightweight jiffy envelope. Choose from correct size or too big and folded over. Provides protection and insulation, expendable when too grubby!do the pe

that might be the way forward....i worked it out 1 pen would last 3 days...so would need 10 pens at least..seen the frio which takes 5 pens so would need 2 of those....Low cost alternative to cool bags (Frio, etc) is a used lightweight jiffy envelope.
