Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi everyone. I have just discovered this forum and am not too familiar with how to use it, so please any advice gratefully received !. I have been a type 1 diabetic since the age of 12 and am now 48. I am afraid I am suffering from major complicarions, I have been registered blind for 14 years and have had many eye ops. I also suffer from chronic auto neuropathy which affects most things including my digestive system. I am about to be put on the transplant list for a kidney/pancreas and I am very nervous. I feel quite alone and quite a failure as a diabetic, so I am hoping reading and posting on this forum might bring me closer to other diabetics wth some similar problems. Sorry I sound abysmal, I actually have a good sense of humour and I am very outgoing, or as much as I can be, I do sleep a lot ! Anyway its nice to meet you all and I hope my list of ailments dont put you all off:D

Hello Tintin, nice to meet you and welcome to the forum. 🙂

Hiya Tintin. Sorry to hear about your complications. You don't have to feel alone. There's plenty of support here. 🙂

Hello Tintin and welcome to the forum sorry to here about your complications, but now you have found this forum you can alway drop a line on here, and you will always find someone to talk to and give you support.

Hi Tintin and welcome to the forum 🙂

Sorry to hear about your complications - I admit this is very tough to hear as a parent of a type 1 child :( The good news is that you are now in line for a transplant, and if successful, you will have a healthy pancreas once again producing your own insulin, which will transform your life I should think. I wish I had advice to give, but I can only give sympathy and wish you luck, and would be interested in hearing about your experiences if you care to share them. 🙂

Hi Tintin
A very warm welcome to the forum - you've come to the right place !
x

Hi tintin,

A warm welcome to the forum x

Thank You For Your Support

Thank you all for being so welcoming. I am quite happy to share my experiences of diabetes, but not sure if I should continue in this thread or jump to the general noticeboard ? From what I read when I registered you really are meant to put messages in the correct places. If someone could help that would be great, You may have guessed I am not so handy with a computer or a forum !!

Yes, the newbie section is the right place for your first message introducing yourself, and after that you can post a message in any section of the forum that seems appropriate to you. For example, click on general messages, and near the top is a button to click on saying "New Thread" - from there you can input your message. 🙂

Very warm welcome here, Here. :D

Welcome TinTin - lots of friends here with good advice and support.
