Hey everyone, hope you are all well and having good week. I'm 35 and was diagnosed last week with having Type 2 Diabetes. Had my first annual Diabetes check last Saturday and it felt a little rushed to be honest so my head has been in a bit of a spin since! My glucose levels are 84% so the Diabetic Nurse told me that I need to reduce it and loose weight as much as I can within the next 3 months when I'll then be tested again. I'm on Metformin, 500g twice a day this week, then increasing to 3 a day next week and then 4 a day following that. Been having a few explosive side effects so far from the medication so I'm hoping that goes away soon?! (Please tell me it does!)
I've started going for walks an hour a day and been trying to make a conscious effort to stay away from Carbs. I'm a little nervous with Christmas coming up, what I should steer clear from but my plan so far is to just eat the meat and veggies. Not sure about what alcohol I can have and desserts (if any!) so will aim to look up info as much as possible on here! Look forward to learning from you all. Xxx
