At last some good news ; hi everyone, we are going for our pump assessment on the 20th dec in the hop eto go on the pump for Harry (Age 3) in January.

We have been to A&E this week with him ,he woke monday morning not able to walk, been diagnosed with irritable hip syndrome. Fortunatly he started walking on it again this morning. I keep thinking whatever next, but at least we have the pump to look forward too. Though I am still worried whats involved and hope he adjusts to it.

Hope everyone is ok.

Helen

Your an inspiration to us all............

I am sure the pump help with things tremendously.......:D

Good luck with the pump Helen, hope everything goes smoothly 🙂 Sorry to hear about his hip - is it something he will grow out of?

Good news re: the pump, very pleased for you !

Hope the hip behaves and doesn't give him too much grief, best wishes 🙂

Gosh, never heard of that!

Apparently according to NHS website, usually short lived. Perhaps like my niece, who had a childhood form of rheumatism in one knee when she was about 3-ish. Eventually sis thought she kept complaining about her one leg hurting and if she was putting it on surely she'd have got mixed up which leg it was? LOL - and took her to see her GP. And immediately felt guilty.

That lasted on and off about 12 months. She's knocking 40 now and it's not returned so far.

Hope Daniel's doesn't last very long.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you & pump. Good Luck 😉

Well done on the pump fingers crossed for you..

As to the irritable hip syndrome my son had this when he was 5 years old, spent a week in hospital on traction but he's 22 now and no problems since...

The need for the traction was because he was in great pain even lying down, the traction slightly pulled the ball of the hip away from the socket helping to relieve the acute pain he was in...

At the end of the week the doctor was explaining to me, that they were considering losing the traction up to see how he got on, the doctor had his back to simon's bed so couldn't see what I could see over the doctors shoulder... I did do an Err, I think he might be ok look pointing at my son.

Who was tangling off the edge of the bed, stretching down to retrieve his toys he dropped on the floor, problem was his bed was at nursing height, so the only thing stopping a nasty fall off the bed, was his leg in Traction! Needless to say the traction was off within the hour.....

His older sister (my oldest) has a weird syndrome... Called Dippy hip syndrome..

Where her muscle around her hip aren't attached correctly so can cause periods of pain and discomfort.
