Not a clue how to use this site/message board place.. would like to ask for advice/help..
What do you want to know Catherine?
You should speak to your Dr about using a TENS machine - there could be reasons that we are unaware of that would stop you using it.
Re the Metformin if you have problems with it you can ask your Dr about Glucophage - it is a slow release version which many people tolerate better.
I was advised by my local pharmacist to try the tens machine, there's one especially designed for knees, she was saying it works very well. My GP has advised surgery, meanwhile he has suggested cortisone injection, of which I am reluctant. So bought the tens machine, but having read that they are not necessarily suitable for diabetics.
Did the pharmacist know that you have diabetes Catherine? If so, then it should be OK to use. If you are unsure then I'd ask either your GP or at the pharmacy. A lot of things are labelled as 'not suitable for diabetics', but this is usually in the case where the person with diabetes suffers from neuropathy, which is either nerve pain or numbness as a result of the diabetes. It's best to be sure, so better to confirm with those who know you best. I hope it is OK and that it gives you some relief from your knee pain 🙂
Thankyou so much Northerner, I will pop in the pharmacy tomorrow. It's been a really difficult time, as my knee pain has been very intense and the GP was not very helpful, supportive or understanding. He just said take paracetamol.....
I've suffered knee pain in the past and know that paracetamol wouldn't even touch it sometimes! Hope the pharmacist gives you the go-ahead! 🙂
p.s. you're doing fine using the forum 🙂
It's very complicated and confusing too.. There's no indication where to write messages. There's nothing to say how to chat or message people.. I tried fumbling my way round it before and given up.
