The diabetic nurse was vague when giving me my recent blood glucose results, so I had to go to the Doctors today for an unrelated problem but I asked the doctor what my Blood Results results were as the nurse did not advise me, and she was as vague as the nurse, so she looked at the computer gave me a fasting reading of 6.9 which was a previous reading from tests I had a while ago, so I said no not that one the one I had after that, and she said it was only 50%, and 48 is normal. I have no idea what she was talking about though as I am used to mmol. Any help appreciated.

Hello Taw

I would suggest that your most recent test was an HbA1c, (details here) results for which are now given not in % but mmol/mol

48mmol/mol is equivalent to 6.5%

50mmol/mol is 6.7%

Non-diabetic HbA1c is often quoted as 3.5 - 5.5% (15-37mmol/mol) so it would be worth speaking to your Dr about your own individualised targets, but 50 is pretty good in terms of avoiding diabetic complications
