my partner was recently diagnosed with diabetes type 1, we`ve notified everyone we should including dvla, yesterday he recieved a letter back from the dvla saying that his current licence will be withdrawn from march 20th and another one issued, they sent a d202 form to sign and a d3 application, which is to reapply for a new licence which will be reviewed every 3 years. Has anyone done this?? if so did you have to include all the id ie.. valid passport, birth certificate as he hasnt got any!! not sure what to do as im not sure if he has to fill all of the form in :( can anyone advise please x many thanx xx😱

Hi,
all insulin dependant diabetics have a restricted licence 1 - 2 -3 years. Also certain catorgries are taken away and you can get them back after 3 months of good control.
As he already holds a licence then no he doesn't need to send in passport etc. Do send in an up to date photo though.
There's a sticky at the top of the forum re filling in the forms.

Do be very carefull when filling it in and make no mistakes. Esp read the hypo questions and tick the right box. If he gets it wrong his licence is gone.

thank you! i might ring them tomorrow just to make sure as i dont want to get anything wrong because he drives as part of his job as well 🙂😱
