That's only a rise of 2 mmol/l, which is fine 🙂 The skill is in getting the starting point down a bit - if you had started at 6 then an 8 after two hours would be perfectly acceptable 🙂

Didn't know they still made Vogel bread - haven't seen it for ages! Are you still on that yard that you won, or was it a metre, can't remember! 🙂

Has your waking level always been this high @am64 or is this a new thing? The subsequent rise after food is fine as northerner says but I expect it's the higher waking levels you're concerned about?

Well it's only increased by 2.0 - and that's what carbs always do, increase our BG. Hasn't hit you like a steam train because the fat (butter) slowed the absorption of the carbs down a bit. Hopefully if that's the top of the spike you will have sufficient insulin circulating to bring it back down again.

Maybe, just maybe, you could think about sticking to Nil carbs in a morning - just major on protein - first thing is usually the worst time for a lot of people.

Edit - Ah! Right - thought it was odd cos I remembered you weren't exactly new LOL - but now I've read your other thread (I just plod through the list but it's newest first)

Well it could be that if your pancreas can no longer produce sufficient insulin for your needs, that you will have to start on insulin. It isn't dead, but there is no point in 'flogging a dead horse' so to speak. Many T2s do far better on it than they have on anything else - so don't regard it as a death sentence!
