Hey everyone! <<waves>>
I'm type 1 and found this forum fantastic about 3 years ago, in helping me nail by <7 HB1ac. I've had to re-register though, so i'm showing as a newbie again, as I have completely forgotten my login details - doh!!
Anyway, I got down to an HB1ac of 6.2 with this forums help and pretty much stayed there or there abouts. Sorted. Or so I thought. Fast forward 3 years and here I am with a progesterone deficiency that I need to take 400mg of cyclogest for in the 2nd half of my cycle. The first half of my cycle remains largely unaffected, but these tablets are clearly making me insulin resistant in the 2nd half, and i am struggling to get this under control. Does anyone have any experience of this?
I also decided to switch to Levemir to see if a different basal insulin might cope better with the hormone tablets (plus i'm really sick of the sting that Lantus has on injecting). So far, i'm struggling to get my doses nailed (didn't get them nailed on Lantus either) and i'm feeling beaten by it, and i can't seem to get my positivity back. Hence me posting for some moral support.
On the first half of my cycle, a split dose of 7/7 (10pm/9am) works perfectly ? I've basal tested and there's not that much of a change from hour to hour, so i'm happy that this section is sorted. It's greatly reduced my basal requirements too. I carb count and my ratio is now 1:12. No problems there at all.
If only the 2nd half was as easy! So far, i've tried 8/8, 9/9, 10/8 and most recently (ie last night & this morning's doses) of 11/8. Todays basal testing instead of breakfast has been 8.7, 9.2, 11.2, 9.8, 9.3. I know 8.7 is too high for a morning reading, but i had a hypo last night before bed, so i probably overdosed on glucose tablets slightly. I'm thinking that perhaps this 11/8 split is promising so far?!
Does anyone have any experience or advice?
Thanks in advance!
