We're off out tonight (being as we're on our holidays. I will probably be having 1 and a half to 2 pints of cider. Do I bolus if I have a bag of crisps. The crisps are over 10g of carbs? Since the DKA I don't want to mess all my good BG's up

Well, I would bolus for anything 10 carbs or over. And what about the cider? I'd check the carbs on that too, and give myself a bit of insulin, maybe making a bit of allowance for the alcohol content, which can have a BG lowering effect.

Definitely. A packet of crisps from a multi pack comes in at about 13g carbs and would raise my BG by about 4 mmol. The individual packs are bigger so would be a bigger rise. .

Anything over 5g carbs I need to bolus.

I bolus for anything over 5g. But be warned, alcohol can lower the sugars. Monitor your levels. (I'm not sure about cider because I can't drink it)

Whatever you decided to do, Gill, make a note of what happened. Did you Bolus? How much? What were your levels? Then you'll know for next time, or if it didn't work out, at least have a starting point for what not to do. I have a notebook where I jot down interesting findings, so I can look back on it, and don't have to reinvent the wheel every time.
