If it was a simple as they were suggesting to you Bill, there'd be no huge bill for the treatment of diabetes complications - 80% of which are considered 'avoidable'. Avoidable, that is, if you are educated and supported on how things work for YOU as an individual, which of course would be a short-term cost that can be skimped on and left to someone else down the line 😡 🙄

Stick with what works - good food you know you tolerate well, daily exercise, and keep your eye on the ball 🙂 I hope that everything gets sorted with the teeth on your next visit with no further impediment! 🙂

Exercise is part of the plan obviously and I know you do plenty, yep portion control is great because it reduces your carb intake.

So don't take everything as a negative, look deeper into the advice you have and will be been given.

You seem to be missing a rather simple and obvious point.
I have halved my numbers in less than a month.
I have always been very fit, played several sports at rep level, walk miles most days, have done nothing else but eat healthily since I was about 2.
If none of the above applied, or indeed the opposite did all this "one (large)size" fits all rubbish would be relevant, as it is it does not go anywhere near addressing my situation.
That may enable you to sagely extol your expert advice, however circumstances indicate it is quite useless.
I have to wonder how many other Ds in this country are subjected to the NHS incorrect advice and go along with it ?
I am pleased for those who gain something from it, and very concerned for the others.
I'm surprised that there are not more voices raised regarding the shockingly incorrect NHS carbs policy outside of echo chambers like this.

Yes, point being the paperwork they gave me clearly states eat starchy food like spuds etc which is hugely incorrect, Ive flattened my numbers by doing the direct opposite. Maybe I'm a bit dim, that staggers me.

With respect Bill the menu you posted in one of your previous posts wasn't exactly healthy and it was loaded with carbs. You have made great strides by reducing the carbs in your meals and changing your eating habits, which is what everyone with diabetes is encouraged to do.

Yes eat some starchy carbs but not so many in one go, it really isn't rocket science is it? As you have found out not everyone is the same some people tolerate more carbs than others, so listen to what you are told then decide what suits you best and do remember your choice has to be a lifetime choice.

Not sure how to find the post you mention.

How frustrating for you and wish you could get the help you need for your teeth. You sounds as if you are doing so well with the D, making fantastic changes and doing loads of research to find the best way forward for you. I send you all my support.

He shouldn't - cats are obligate carnivores, carbs should not feature in their diet at all.

I do hope that those problematic teeth can be sorted out when the date does eventually arrive.

My doctor and nurse at the local practice are baffled by changes in my test results - but they don't want to know about Atkins or low carbing.

That moggy eats anything, I keep finding out that he wanders into other houses and helps himself,,,mind you other cats wander into here !

Teeth, I'm due to see an Oral Surgeon on July 13th, its pain killers until then.

Ive learned over the last 18 months how idiotic that 111service can be.
