I hope people can help me. I'm getting really down about my lipohypertrophy lumps on my stomach:(. It's not as bad as the guy in the daily mail but its not exactly unnoticeable. It is absolutely disgusting and I am getting really depressed about it, especially as summer is coming up and it will be tight t shirt season in only a few months. Last summer I hid under baggy hoodies to try to hide it and was hot and uncomfortable.

Someone told me that there is a cream you can use to 'massage' the lipos away? Don't know if this is real or just wishful thinking? Anyone have any ideas at all how I can get rid of them? Obviously I do not use my stomach at all anymore, I put my cannulas in my legs now. Even if it takes me years I would like to start working on getting rid of them now. Thanks.

I don't know of anything, I'm sorry.

However although I'm really not that convinced it does anything, I do use a medium (ie not pathetically soft and not at all harsh) approx 3-4ins diameter bristle brush, which I soap up and use in the shower when I wash, round and round in circles all over my belly and midriff and the outer thighs, in fact anywhere I'd inject and stick cannuals.

Then I do my hard skin bits (knees, elbows and backs of heels) and finally my tootsies. It isn't hard enough to sting or anything - not aggressive, and it certainly gets the blood supply flowing everywhere I use it which I tell myself must be helping - let's get a good supply of nice healthy oxygenated blood circulating!

And then slap on Urea cream as body lotion. That's flipping expensive - but hey! - I'm worth it ! LOL

Thanks for the advice trophywench 🙂 I'm definitely going to give that a try!

I hope you find something that works for you Lauren 🙂 There must be thousands of people similarly affected, so you would think that someone would have come up with a good method of treating the lipos. If I find anything, I will let you know! 🙂

Humm, just had a thought. You can get 'fatty lumps' on your body from getting bits of you squeezed can't you? For instance friend of mine (Geriatric nurse working in a nursing home) had one on her upper arm - it looked like a cyst about an inch across in the fleshy bit underneath at the top towards her armpit - where a patient had pinched her one day when they were getting her out of bed. And the cure for them is leave em alone or have em cut out if they bother you.

So I reckon there probably isn't a cure.......

Thanks for your replies. I'm considering looking into liposuction, I'm still fairly young and I like wearing nice clothes! I'm not going to let the lumps beat me!

good for you lauren, i think that the brush idea mentioned above should probably help a bit as it stimulates the blood flow to the surface of skin and if anything helps good blood flow should, have you ever asked your DSN about it? i think there would be a great deal of people would benefit if any thing was found to work on them.

Hi Lauren, I've had lipohypertophy on both my thighs for years and years. Most people say they aren't noticeable, but to me they seem huge. Sorry you are feeling down about it :(

Mine has stuck around for yonks and when I've asked, they - the Drs - tell me I just have a particularly bad case. Have you moved to injecting somewhere else to give that area a break from injecting?

No I don't use my stomach at all now, but when I first went on my pump I used the sides of my stomach for about a year. However I think putting the cannulas this close still affected the lipos. Now I use my thighs but I'm worried that I might get lipos on them too :(

Well I had a look at liposuction, it costs about ?8000 so I'll have to look into paying in installments. I'm going to have a good long think about it because that is a lot of money and I'm scared of operations. But to be honest it will be worth it if I can wear t shirts in the summer again.

When i was a kid my mam used Lanolin on me ! & that was in the pannel pin days (needles the size of nails). Good luck Lauren & have you lucked it up on Google. 🙂
