Hi Jenni, what’s your motivation? Mines keeping my toes , feet and eyesight. Draw A line under it and get refocused. Hope this helps x

This is my post some people are referring to.

it clearly asks Jenni what her motivation is. I am trying to engage and help Jenni.

I states Mines , which is referring to my motivation is , keeping my toes, feet and eyesight.

I don’t think it could be any clearer.

There is no hidden message or agenda.

I think it’s important to remember that posting on forums is an imperfect form of interaction and exchange. It is a bit like having a conversation, but also nothing like having a conversation - not least because written exchanges don’t have body language, tone of voice, facial expression, or any of the non-verbal cues that you have access to when face to face.

Some posts that are meant to be encouraging may hit a nerve with other members, because of their past experiences, and perhaps because of other (hurtful) interactions they may have had in connection with the same topic.

We are a supportive community, and it’s important that people feel free to share their own views and experiences authentically, but also we have to be aware that people may be carrying burdens and sensitivities that mean our posts may not be received in the way we intended.

There is no place on the forum for any blame or stigma surrounding the development of complications. The best we can ever try to do is to reduce our own risk, and try to support others to do the same. So I suppose in a sense reduction of complication risk is a motivation for all of us. But there are never any guarantees, and diabetes rarely plays entirely fairly. Sometimes complications just happen despite excellent diabetes management. It is incredibly unfair, and anyone affected deserves our full support.

you seem to think and speculate that bad control is what leads to complications which isn't always the case, I have had the tightest control and have still had 2 eye conditions and many just assume bad control has led to it, you aren't always "safe" just because of good control and saying it is or even thinking it just isn't true and people need to realise that
I agree with you , all I can do is control the diabetes and hope that I don’t get any other issues x

My motivations are;
1) try and get off all the tablets, i hate the fact I'm 29yrs old and i have a weekly pill box!! (I cried when i had to buy one)
2) i want to be me and not jenni with diabetes.
3) i want to stay healthy and be able to run around in years to come with my little boy!
4) i don't want to get the health issues related to diabetes! It scares the life out of me!

Its such a minefield, i think im doing right but then im not really sure!

Hi Jenni – I too have lost control. I feel your pain. It's so frustrating to think that despite our intelligence, we can do this to ourselves. However, it's very easily done and happens to many of us at some point or another.

It's blooming hard work sometimes. But we CAN and WILL turn things around. I think the fact that you've put your hands up and are sharing where you're at, is the first step in the turnaround. I've adopted a little mantra of "what can i do right now to help myself", which is working for me. It's helping me to test more often and not ignore rising BGs. The other one that's helping with food choices, is asking myself "is this going to help or hurt me".

Good luck with it.
