When used the glucoman areo 2k it would want more then that.
I stand corrected. Then what I meant is most only need a pinheads worth

Even that one only needs a pin head size drop. 0.5 microlitre for glucose, 0.8 microlitre for ketones. I would regularly get 200 microlitres from a finger pricks for some lab experiments.

That was a pain to use anyway. Not only the amount of blood wanted. The whole letting your finger to it.

Is the amount of blood the problem or where you put the blood.
I remember when I was first diagnosed I thought I needed to put the blood on the strip and wasted a number of strips before I realised the strips sucked up the blood with capillary action.

That said, I too am a Fastclix advocate. It doesn't give me more blood but is easier to hold and lesss flimsy than the prickers which typically come with meters.
I did this when I just got out of hospital too I also put the blood on the wrong. My friend who is type 1 as well shou

Oh it just seemed too because it didn't run down fair enough but peepherps it was just my difficulty in using it the ones Ive used since seem to take less and work with a tiny drop.

@rayray119 you say you were interested in getting the Contour Next strips but they require more sample than the Areo does, only 0.1 microlitre more but still more of a sample required

I also used to take far more blood than needed because I sort of bathed the test strip in it rather that used the capillary action to draw the sample in.
Still now sometimes I botch up a strip because I’m occasionally incredibly incompetent but with practice you’ll learn how to ease enough blood to test.
You’ll also learn that sometimes you just have to throw a strip away and do it again. But you’ll get the hang of it I’m sure.

I used it before it was really easy to use I guess it was more the way of testing then the blood then because I have used the contour next one and found it really easy to use as well as the others or it could be I was verry newly diagnosed back then but Ive diafitty seem to able to use those meters more(including the contour next one when I tried it out and when someone gave me a box of them to keep me going until my I got a prescription

Also there are different areo makes

Looking it up I think it was more way it needed to be used then the amount of blood I've found it much we easier to bring the strip to the blood then the blood to strip. @rrambo63 what meter do you use?

Yes there are 2 Areo meters but that makes no difference to the size of sample required as they both use the same BG strips
