Sorry to hear of your diagnosis but it can be a opportunity to make some changes for a healthier lifestyle.
I have just re read The Diabetes weight loss Cookbook by Caldesi which is brilliant not just for the recipes but a good explanation of managing the condition and suggestion on how to go about getting blood glucose down to normal levels. It is not expensive at £12 from Amazon or £4.99 for the Kindle version.
Carbs and cals is useful in giving you the carb value of lots of foods but there are also apps people use, some free some you have to subscribe to.
Do you know what your HbA1C is that had given you your diagnosis as that indicates how much you need to do. Are you on any medication as that might influence any advice or suggestions people might make.
Do feel free to ask any specific questions and do have a look around the site.
You may also find this link helpful. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/ as it adopts the principals that many people have found successful.

Welcome to the forum @Shweetie

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis - did it come out of the blue, or was it something that has been building up for some time?

Do you have any diabetes in your family? Or has this come as a complete shock?

Carbs and Cals is well known on the forum, and many people find it very helpful. Others find apps like myfitnesspal a useful way to keep a food diary to monitor progress. There are usually free versions you can use to check them out to see if they suit you.

Try not to be disheartened about your diagnosis, many people on the forum later reflect that their diagnosis became a catalyst which prompted them to make positive changes towards a healthier and more active life. Perhaps changes that they had been intending to make for years.

Keep asking questions, and let us know how you get on 🙂
