Hi @PrincessDinky and welcome to the forum.
I'm assuming that you aren't in remission from Type 2.
We mainly have 2 ways ( in addition or instead of medication) for controlling Type 2 (or getting it into remission).
The main one for people who have been Type 2 for a few years is by reducing the starches as well as the sugar we eat.
Depending upon which (if any) medication you are taking, this could be straightforward or be something needing doing slowly in stages.

The other method (proven to work for many newly diagnosed) is an 800 calorie per day diet for a dramatic weight loss , followed by healthy(for Type 2) eating. There are several of these diets from Dr Michael Moseley and another one from the DIRECT study known as the Newcastle Diet. Again these may not be suitable for Type 2 diabetics on Type 2 medication other than Metformin.
