Hi, my name is Adam. My daughter was diagnosed Type 1, two years ago, she is now 14 years of age. My wife is on social media and has joined a couple of diabetic support groups, and I have decided it may be beneficial for me to do the same. It has been a roller coaster couple of years, plenty of upset and anguish, but I am so proud of how my daughter is dealing with this massive change in her life.

Welcome @Adam 48 🙂 I see your daughter has a pump. That’s great. I hope she’s appreciating the flexibility of it.

Thank you Inka...yes, the Tandem has been a bit of a game changer for her. Along with the libre2, no more finger pricking or injecting. There's been a few bumps in the road since the Tandem, working out the percentages when splitting the insulin etc...but we'll get there

Great to read that your daughter is on the TSlim. there are a few on here using that. Many issues are not specific to any particular pump so a wealth of knowledge and experience to tap into on here. All questions welcome.

That’s the nature of the ‘beast’ @Adam 48 Things are frequently changing with Type1. I find I need to tweak my basal numerous times through the year, and sometimes alter my ratios too. I’ve had a pump for many years - a DANA RS currently.

Kids are amazing, and with new treatment options, technologies and gadgets it can be increasingly possible to manage blood glucose very effectively, with less effort than ever before.

I have to say that I think the Tandem tSlim and Dexcom combo is the best kit I’ve ever had.

Thank you...Erin doesn't have the Dexcom, yet, she has the Libre2. Our diab team originally said she doesn't qualify for the Dexcom, as her diabetes is reasonably well managed, and she always notices a hypo early? Though in our last meeting, they said they would consider it now as she's had quite a few lows the last couple of months. Fingers crossed...our next meeting is in mid July.
