Hi @Mish and welcome

Hello all,
My name is Mish.I’m 61 years old, have type2 diabetes. I live in Swindon Wiltshire.
I have a few health issues regarding COVID-19 and diabetes.
Hello,
I contracted Covid-19 in December.
I ended up on a ventilator in hospital, for a month.
I’m now home and recovering.
I have a problem with my left arm and my left hand. and right leg in my thigh and in my knee.
They are numb and stinging.
This has been going on since I was in hospital.

Hi Mish, welcome to the forum!

So sorry to hear about your recent health issues. How's recovery going?

Have you been advised on what's going on with the numbness?

I hope you find the site useful, let us know if you have any question or concerns.

Hi Mish and welcome

So sorry to hear you have been very ill with Covid and are still suffering problems from it. Have they given you any painkillers for the discomfort in your limbs?
What is your Diabetes management like? Are you on medication for it and if so, what? Do you use a Blood Glucose meter at home to test your levels and if so, what are they like. The numbness and stinging could be diabetes related due to nerve damage because Covid can cause very high BG levels or it may be specifically related to the virus itself.
Managing your BG levels as well as you can now will help if it is diabetes related and sometimes the nerve damage can self repair. Something else to consider would be a Vitamin B supplement as that is beneficial for the neurological system I believe, particularly if you are using Metformin. Do you know if your blood has been checked for HbA1c and vitamin deficiency since leaving hospital?
Is your GP aware of the problems you are experiencing?

Hello Cherrelle,
Thanks for your concern.
Yes I have asked my GP and diabetes nurse regarding the numbness, the GP changed my metformin. I was diagnosed in March 2020.
The numbness started in hospital towards the end of January.
It’s a pain that has prevented sleep, but I have got used to it lately.its difficult to explain.
