Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi everyone.
I'm a type 2 of 22 years.
I was made redundant last August (due to Covid) and went into a downward spiral, mental health wise. I didn't take my diabetes drugs and ended up with a nasty abscess on my back. (For those new to diabetes, abscesses are quite common when your diabetes is out of control).
I spent 2 weeks in hospital, had to have an operation and ever since I have been taking my medication. It has scared me and made me realise I have to be careful and sensible.
So, that's me.

Hi @_Sophie_ , you've had some difficult times! Hope things are better for you now physically & mentally. Good to hear from you.

How horrible for you @_Sophie_ Diabetes is an extra burden when you have stress like redundancy. It makes things harder.

I hope you’re fully recovered now and back to putting the diabetes in its place.

I hope you are now in a better place to get back on track, you will find plenty of help and support from these fantastic people on here. Many who have been exactly where you are and have managed to pull things back. Just take it day by day and refresh your strategy by looking at the learning zone and some of the links for the recipes and menu suggestions.

Welcome to the forum @_Sophie_
Very pleased that you have found the forum.

After such a difficult time I hope that we can help you with your plan to get things back on track with your diabetes. If you have any questions just ask. Nothing is considered silly on here, and there is plenty of experience to draw on.

Thank you everyone - so kind of you to reply.
Fingers crossed I *can* pull things back.
Watch this space!
Hoping you are all doing well xxx

Welcome to the forum @_Sophie_

So sorry to hear about the very tough time you have been having, but good to see you are motivated to make some positive changes.

Well done for restarting you medications. All the best for your continued recovery 🙂
