Hello my name is George Anderson I live in Paisley Renfrewshire.
Is there any support groups in the paisley area.

Hi George and welcome.

Afraid I can't help with a local group and most meetings of such are on hold at the moment, but the forum is here to answer any questions and support you in any way we can. I am relatively new to Type 1 (about 22 months into my diagnosis) but have learned a huge amount from the experience of other members here as well as benefiting from their support and encouragement at times when I was struggling.

It can be quite an isolating condition so having other people to share experiences with who understand because they face the same challenges is hugely helpful. I appreciate it is not the same as talking face to face but sometimes it is easier to share information in a more anonymous environment where you feel less judged. I feel that I have made some great friends here during my relatively short time.

Would you like to tell us a bit more about your diabetes ... like how long you have been diagnosed and what insulin(s) you are using and if you are MDI or a pump and if so, which one or if you have Freestyle Libre etc....
The forum is particularly useful to learn about new tech that is available to help us and what people think of it and which hoops you have to jump through to get it etc.

Anyway, just wanted to wish you well and hope that, even if you find a local group, you continue to hang around here on the forum and benefit from it as I and many others have. Feel free to ask if you have any questions or anything particular you have problems coping with in your diabetes management and I am sure there will be plenty of suggestions for possible ways to improve things.

One I know of has gone on-line, and are doing things through video conferencing using Zoom. It's possible some of the others are too.
