Hello Everyone,

Diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 2007. Recent diagnosis of Dermatomyositis with SCL-70 and treated with 1500ml of immunoglobulin (more to follow soon). Prescribed Prednisolone; which raises Blood-sugar levels, so now on a daily dose of insulin.
.
I received a letter today calling me to hospital for a "Diabetes CVC In Person" appointment next week. Can anyone advise what this enatails?
Thanks,
Bob

Hello @Bob Turner ,

Thank you so much for joining the Diabetes UK support forum. I am so sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis of Dermatomyositis and I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you. How are you feeling, especially with the lock down in place?

You mentioned that you received a letter for a diabetes CVC in Person. In the letter, did it mention anything else?

No, nothing else, apart from the usual reminders how much it costs for a missed appointment etc. The only reference I could find for CVC is something to do with Cardio Vascular and I did have a heart bypass 2 years ago. I also had a conversation with my diabetes nurse yesterday and she did not mention anything.

Hi Bob,

I *think* this is just a fancy term for blood test, probably Hba1c, but would go expectIng to have blood drawn when you attend.

Thanks Lucy,
I usually attend my GP practice every 6 months for a diabetic check-up, including about a gallon of blood samples, with annual retinography at Ninewells Hospital. I do take blood samples 4 times a day at the moment because of the prednisolone,

Welcome to the forum @Bob Turner

Hope the appointment goes well.
