This is just to say hello. In case you are wondering I am the original Nomad - lost my details so I had to re-register. Seems I am a borderline case, although the doctor has me listed as a diabetic I have never been prescribed anything and have never had any symptoms in three years! Any comment? I feel that is a bit unfair as that is like ask people to become doctors but I must admit I am a bit perplexed. I recently met somebody else in the same position.

Hi Nomad and welcome back.

Do you know what your HbA1c reading is as that will determine whether you are diabetic or not. There are many Type 2 diabetics who manage their condition by diet alone, so the fact that you are not on medication does not mean that you aren't diabetic. It is better to be on the diabetic register and be monitored periodically as a result even if you are borderline to ensure that things have not deteriorated, than be forgotten about and your blood glucose gradually increase to a point where it is damaging your nerves etc and you be unaware until it is too late. That would be my thoughts anyway. Symptoms tend to occur when things become very bad and you don't want to let it get to that stage. When it happens gradually, the body gets used to the higher levels, so you don't realise anything is amiss until it can't cope anymore and something breaks down.
If you are borderline, very small dietary changes should help push it into remission.... ie below an HbA1c of 48.

Could you think of the addition to the Diabetes register as the guarantee of an annual MOT. Once on the list you can get all the regular checks and also keep a check on your HbA1c. Great to keep a check as you were borderline and it gives you the chance and the information to ensure that you move away from the border.

What's your HbA1c? Have you managed to get all the results out of the HCP?

If you still have access to the email address you used when you registered @Nomad722, you could try resetting the password (log out then choose 'forgot password' on the log-in screen).

Even sillier, I went looking for the member search, but couldn’t find it!

So I just used the general forum search instead :D
 
More information for you; I have arthritic knees and walk with a cane - puts me off visiting the hospital as I have difficulty in getting on and off trains and buses. The eye-scan worries me as I met up breaking my neck - that would put me out of my misery.
 
I would like to add I am not altogether sure how to use the forum so some of my posts may be in the wrong threads. Guidance would be appreciated.
