Relationship to Diabetes
Hi everyone
I'm new to the site and am hoping to find help to deal with my husbands diagnosis of diabetes 2

Hello @WINNIE , welcome to the forum. We’ll be glad to help, so please ask as many questions as you need to.
A little more info would help. Has your husband been diagnosed long and what diabetes medication if any is he on. If he is newly dx (diagnised) it does come as a shock and sadly we can be left in limbo for a while.

Hi @WINNIE welcome, I'm fairly newly diagnosed myself and it does come as a bit of a shock at first, but the people here have been a great help & support in answering any of my questions I've had, so please ask away and don't be afraid, as there are many here to help
I wonder what advice, if any, your hubbie has had regarding diet and also self testing of blood glucose (BG)...?

Hi Winnie and welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear about your husband’s diagnosis. A book that those with T 2 have recommended is Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker. It includes a lot of practical advice about managing the condition.

There is plenty of experience in here so just ask any questions that you have.

hi Winnie, you have Definetly come to the right place.
What Advice & help have you been given so far?
I would certainly second the recommendation for THE book, it should be considered essential reading for all T2's
It is carbohydrates that cause the problems so a low carb diet is found by many to be beneficial. simply reducing portion sizes for potatoes, pasta & rice can have a significant effect but the only real way to tell what is working is to self test your BG levels & not wait for the regular check ups
you will find plenty of advice on self testing here once you get your feet
