Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hello. My name is Sarah and I have just joined this forum. I am type 1 diabetes and have been for 16 years. 2 months ago I was admitted to A&E with a DKA. I nearly died. I have constant pins and needles in my legs and feet. I have had an MRI Scan done to see if I have permanent nerve damage. I hope not as I am very scared. I cannot walk far and it is getting me down .

Hello Sarah and welcome to the forum. 🙂 Sorry to hear of the issues you've been having. What insulin are you taking?

Hi Sarah, welcome to the group

Welcome Sarah from a T2. I'm sorry to hear you're having issues.

Hi Sarah and welcome to the forum.

Hi Sarah, sorry that things are tough at the moment. Wishing you all the best.

Welcome to the forum, sorry that things are tough at the moment. Everyone here is lovely, and is you have any questions someone will always be happy to answer 🙂

Hello Sarah
My son (type one for 27+ years) has over the past year been admitted on two occasions with DKA and treated in intensive care on both occasions. This resulted in him initially being unable to walk, a very worrying and tense time. After physiotherapy, whilst in hospital, he partially regained the use of his legs but now has to walk with a leg brace. Obviously he incurred some nerve damage. The hope is he will eventually be able to walk without the brace.
Unfortunately he became complacent with his insulin management and just kept injecting in the same small area literally for years resulting in the insulin becoming less and less effective. Thankfully his insulin regime has now been improved and he seems much better now.
So Sarah, try not to let it get you down and remember you are not alone
