Hi Heidi, welcome to the forum 🙂 (I resisted saying Heidi Hi! 😱 😉)

Breakfasts can be a problem for many of us. You tend to be more insulin-resistant in the morning, so any carbs you have may raise your levels higher than they would at other times of day. So, probably the best solution would be to go for something low in carbohydrates but high in protein. Somewhat contradictory to 'normal' healthy eating advice, for us diabetics something like bacon and eggs is ideal, or scrambled eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes etc. A lot of people like plain yoghurt with fresh berries - although they contain fruit sugar, berries are better than most fruits for people with diabetes. The way to establish what works best for you is to use your meter to test before and after eating, and then modify your diet accordingly - have a read of Test,Review, Adjust by Alan S which explains this very well 🙂

Are you on any medication for your diabetes?

Hi Heidi, What are you having for breakfast at the moment? For me the best thing Ive found for breakfast is porridge, but this doesnt work for everyone. I have started to also use unsweetened almond milk as it is lower in carbs.

Hi yes I'm trying porridge at the moment but doesn't agree with my readings , i do take medication 4 X metformin per day 1 glicaside and 1 sitagliptin x

I have bacon or eggs with a bread thin and this works for me.

I find it difficult to cook bacon and eggs when on an early shift would mean me getting up at 4 am so a quick breakfast is good for me I might try making scrambled eggs the night before and just warming them up

Hi and welcome Heidi - I just go with a couple of eggs scrambled and cooked in the microwave for 1 minute - quick and easy.

Yes - scrambled eggs in the microwave come out really light and fluffy, and no pan to wash up after! 🙂

Hello Heidi and welcome to the forum.

Hi heidi
I was going to suggest scrambled egg in the microwave too, or a quick omelette (easy to cook the night before and then reheat really quickly). Also oats soaked in yoghurt (Greek is nice) overnight is nice and some find it doesn't cause as big a spike as porridge with milk, and dead easy to eat and run. Hope you find something you like 🙂
