Hi there, I'm new to this site. My daughter is 9 & was diagnosed with type 1 4 years ago. Hoping to find some support from others in the same situation! Thanks 🙂

Hi Sharlene, welcome to the forum 🙂 How have things been for your daughter? Is she on injections or a pump?

There are lots of lovely people here, with quite a few of them being great examples of how diabetes doesn't have to stand in the way of a full and healthy life! Any questions you have, please ask away! 🙂

Hi Sharlene -Welcome to the forum -We are about nearly 4 yrs dx too .I found this site quite early on - so glad you've found us .Everyone is friendly and will always help out

Hiya Sharlene. Welcome to the forum.🙂

Hi Sharlene

Welcome to the forum! My daughter is nearly 9, not diagnosed quite as long as yours though. How does she cope with it at school, mine at the moment is soooooo self conscious about being different, I've run out of things to say to her to make it better :(. She copes with it amazingly well actually but does't seem to see that, all she sees is that she's having to do things that others don't. It's tough sometimes, isn't it!

Kids support groups

Hi again, thank you for your lovely responses! Chloe copes amazingly well too but is also very aware that she is different and gets fed up quite a lot. She is the only one in her school with Type 1 which makes her feel quite isolated. Desperately trying to find a group locally with children with type1 but so far have only found adult groups in our area. Have any of you set up a children's group locally? I work 5 days a week so don't have a lot of spare time but feel I need to do something for her! Thanks in advance xx
p.s Chloe has been on the medtronic insulin pump for one year.

Hi Sharlene, it might be worth trying on the Children with Diabetes website, there are lots of parents on there from up and down the country and they are very active in forming groups and meeting up 🙂
