I was told in June that I'm pre diabetic, my fasting blood was 6.4. I've since got a meter, lost load of weight now, follow a low carb diet, my bloods are now in the normal range.. My fasting one today was 5.1, but I have to watch everything I eat....to stay that way..
I still get it wrong sometimes...my hubby came in the other night with a bag of cherries my fav, not had them in months....I had a dozen or so..I started to feel really warm after so I tested....omg 12.6 so I went and rowed and used my cross trainer to bring it back down to 6...
I would of been lost without forums like this to use as a guide of what to do....

Keep off them pessky cherries ! Made me smile when you said that you had rowed. I read it wrong & thought you had row with hubby for bringing them in the house 😱 Keep at it you seem to be doing the right things 😉

Hi Janie, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sounds like you are getting a good understanding of what you need to do and are having good success - well done! 🙂 You've learned something about cherries too, grapes can be as bad, so watch those if you are partial to them. Get a good GI/GL book, like The GL Diet for Dummies - it will help you make choices and also give strategies for lowering the GI of some of your favourite treats by combining with other foods e.g. eating the cherries wil some Greek yoghurt after a main meal 🙂

Please feel free to ask any questions! 🙂

Welcome Janie_com.

Do remember that cherry juice on fingers might give a falsely high reading, so always wash & dry hands between eating juicy fruit and testing.
