I've had a load of leaflets and information sent through to my phone from my GP and they are all for type 2.

So I'll go with that until 8 speak to the diabetic nurse in June.

Welcome to the forum @KT85

Sounds like a good plan. I guess there’s nothing clear at this stage that confirms diabetes type one way or another, so it’s reasonable to follow your Drs first instincts. However the forum does have a pretty good spidey sense about such things, and we do see quite a few newbies arrive with one classification, who later turn out to have a different type of diabetes - so it’ll be worth bearing the possibility in mind if the standard treatment pathways don’t seem to be giving the results you’d hope for over the coming weeks and months (or possibly even years in some cases!)

Have you decided on a plan of action in terms of adjusting your menu yet? The main choices seem to be to reduce calories to aim for weight loss, or to reduce carbohydrates to target glucose management.

Condolences for the loss of your Dad.

I've been on a diet for a while now but I'm really knuckling down now, I'm actually going to try and do both, reduce calories and cut carbs

My sister was type 1.5 so I think that might be the same for me. But I'll still with the doctors advice for now.
