Hello I o everybody . I am a 61 year old grandma, now retired from nursing with type 2 diabetes and arthritis. I have recently started swimming as my Metformin is no longer controlling my diabetes and blood sugar is high particularly in the morning. I have also now been started on Empagliflozin 25 mg in combination with Metformin. Still having high morning blood sugar. I am hoping over time the swimming will help to reduce this. It's good to be a part of a group of people who are able to share their experiences and where you can go to for support

Hi @lybuchan and welcome to the forum. You will find us an inquisitive lot, not because we are nosey, but because diabetes can a bit of an individual thing and finding the best way forward depends on so many things. Can you tell us your last HbA1c and the sort of blood glucose readings you are getting? They will help members to put a perspective on things.

Welcome to the forum @lybuchan

Good to hear you’ve added swimming to your diabetes management toolkit. Another member here @Felinia has mentioned finding Aquafit classes very helpful.

Have you made adjustments to your meals and snacks alongside the metformin to help give your metabolism the best chance of keeping your glucose levels in range?
