Hi and welcome.

Would you like to tell us a bit about how you came to be diagnosed (ie a routine blood test or were you symptomatic and if so, which symptoms) and how you manage your diabetes? Perhaps just diet and exercise or medication too and if so, which ones you have been prescribed?
Do you know your most recent HbA1c result?
Is there anything particular which brings you to the forum at this time? Perhaps wanting to gain better understanding so that you can improve your management or wanting support to lose weight or just wanting to compare notes with others in the same boat?
We all know it can be really challenging at times and maintaining motivation long term can be tough.
How are you coping?

It was a routine blood test after I changed doctors. I control it with medication metformin, novomix insulin and empagliflozin. My latest hba1c was in the mid 70s which I know is high, it is to see where I can improve and just get advice/support there are times when I get worried, I need to get it better controlled. My late wife had diabetes as well as other troubles and it what led to her death sadly so that is the biggest motivation for me to be there for my son and daughter.

Hi I'm type 2 for quite a while now but I'm new to this forum thing
Hi I am new to the forum thing too. I dont know how to navigate it but I am willing to learn. Hope you get the hang of it too. J

So sorry to hear you lost your wife but good that you are using that loss and your children to help motivate yourself with your diabetes.
That is quite a combination of medications? Can I ask how much Novomix you take?
Have you been on insulin a while or has it just been introduced recently?

Who supports you with your diabetes management? Is it a GP or nurse at your GP surgery or it it someone at a specialist clinic at a hospital?

I have been on insulin for quite awhile now,I'm currently on 20 units on a morning and 34 units evening but I'm not sure if it's working properly I see my diabetic nurse at my local surgery. My blood sugar reading at bedtime is usual about 11mmol which usually allows by morning it's between 5 and 7 but the past few nights it's been staying the same or in the case of this morning it had gone up so I'm a bit puzzled

Sincere condolences for your loss @Probey69 - I lost my wife 5 years ago, so know what a difficult road that can be to travel.

Hope you are able to find a balance between meds and menu, to steer your levels into range. Has your diabetes nurse talked about keeping a check on your meal sizes, and balancing carbohydrates with your medications? When I was on fixed doses on mixed insulins my nurse gave me a handy guide of the amounts of carbohydrate in meals to aim for - but I don’t know if it’s a common suggestion made to T2s?

Thank you it's 5 years since my wife passed too. My nurse is always mentioning about food and carbs and I do try but iwork set hours but my son works different hours so it's quite rare for us to eat at the same time so I tend to grab something quick and easy and there's some times I have to force myself to eat cos I just don't fancy anything
