Hello I’m new to this so please bear with me. I was diagnosed type 2 about a year ago. I am on metformin now and my latest hba1c was down to 47 from 59 at highest. I have peripheral neuropathy along with a lot of other health conditions not to do with my diabetes. Waiting on cardiology appointment for possible PoTs diagnoses, I suffer with a lot of swelling in my feet so
My main reason for seeking out the forum is because someone suggested compression socks. I know I need to be very careful with my feet but didn’t know if I can wear compression socks or where to find some for larger women. Any advice please?
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum.
I would check with your doctor that it is ok for you with your condition. If so there are some on Amazon which are larger size, Zeta Wear was one I saw. Not cheap but if they help.
If your doctor suggests them they may be prescribed on prescription.
Well done on getting your HbA1C down.

Welcome to the forum @Muireann

It does sound like you‘d benefit from a chat with your GP about whether compression socks would be suitable in your case, as they will be able to check your pulses and blood flow.

You might also try a local podiatrist - many can be seen privately, if you think that would help. Some offer relatively affordable initial consultations.

You can also call the Diabetes UK helpline if you’d like to chat through your worries and concerns. The Helpline is open 9-6 weekdays on 0345 123 2399

When I saw the podiatrist recently she suggested diabetic socks. I bought some on Amazon and they're quite loose at the top (and over the foot as well, really) and very comfortable. I imagine this is quite the opposite of compression socks (although I've never seen them so might be wrong).

But you're right to be careful of your feet (I know, because I've lost one), so I'd echo the other comments about not doing anything without first talking to your GP.

I love my compression socks and they came off eBay but I don't have any other medical issues, other than the diabetes.

Have a chat with your GP because they could arrange for you to have some on prescription. My mum has peripheral artery disease and gets her socks from the GP. They come in all sorts of strengths (is that the right word?) and sizes. It's also worth getting yourself signed up with the good chiropodist / podiatrist. They are far more likely to spot any issues with your feet nice and early.
