Hello I am a new Member I was dignosed with Type 2 last month. My name is Jill
A Low Carbohydrate way of eating (eat until satiated, counting carbs rather than calories) works for both weight loss and Blood Glucose control for over 50% of people - many more than 'diet' does in the longer term. Thanks everyone for your responses. ..........................................I need to loose weight so I am trying a low fat diet. So far I am loosing weight. When I am bored or stressed I want to snack or eat something not good.
One question is I noticed on the course I did that people were monitoring their blood glucose and that was not suggested to me. Should I be doing that now? I haven't been given any medication as yet & am seeing what effect diet & exercise will have.
Thanks Ian I followed a Keto diet for a while but found it very difficult to stick to and that has put me off going low carb. However I do try and and limit them.A Low Carbohydrate way of eating (eat until satiated, counting carbs rather than calories) works for both weight loss and Blood Glucose control for over 50% of people - many more than 'diet' does in the longer term.
There are 3 macro nutrients but Proteins and Fats are the only essential ones - meaning that in theory we don't need carbs (but its almost impossible to avoid them completely - neither do we need to).
Low carb is very different to Keto which many do find hard. Keto is usually as low as 20g carbs per day but low carb is suggested as being no more than 130g per day so much more doable. Thanks Ian I followed a Keto diet for a while but found it very difficult to stick to and that has put me off going low carb.
