Hiya! My own 50th was last August - we've all had to work hard at it to get to this stage, and still need to every day of course, but there again some things just become ingrained habits over the years like eg. always testing your BG and calculating and jabbing bolus before meals. But - be warned! - since getting older than you the number of times I say Oh bugger! audibly these days after I've taken a couple of bites of food and family members have got used to jokingly castigating the nasty buggers for not reminding me I had diabetes before I started eating has definitely increased - we do all treat it as a joke still, but just irks me cos it's just rubbing in that I'm getting older.

Will you apply for your 50 diaversary medal from DUK? I haven't bothered to ask about it since it certainly won't mean much to anyone except me and I absolutely know it without that evidence.

No I don't think I'll be applying for any medal. Like you say I don't need the evidence to prove it and to be honest I think medals for such things are just plain silly.

Welcome to the forum @Jonathan G

I bet you’ve seen a few changes over the years!

We have a few long-termers on the forum, were you diagnosed very young? And are you on injections or a pump these days?

April must be a good month for being diagnosed with type1 diabetes 🙂 My diagnoses 58 years ago was the 5th of April.

A very big welcome to the forum. 🙂

Hi - I've been type one for 50 years this coming April. Fit as a fiddle with no complications but I do work hard at it.
Welcome
I look forward to hearing more from you.
you will have seen many changes and good to know that you are as fit as a fiddle.

Hello SB2015 - I was diagnosed when I was 11 and yes I've seen lot's of changes for the better. Still on the injections as I have no real desire to get a pump. More than happy the way things are so if it ain't broke don't fix it is my motto.
