Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello and thanks for making me feel welcome. I am a newly diagnosed male type 2 diabetic, aged 55, 17st 13lb. My GP said it is reversible by exercising and changing eating habits. My target weight is 15st and have subsequently lost 6lb by cutting down on sugar and carbs…. A long journey but can be done

Welcome to the forum
He is right many people are able to do just that. Well done on your weight loss so far. It is good to see you are using the right phrase Sugar and Carbs, many think it is just sugar and don't recognise it is ALL carbs that convert to glucose.
How much work you have to do will also depend on what your HbA1C is, do you know that as it will be a good guide.
The Learning Zone here has lots of info and links, but I found the principals in this link https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/ worked for me in losing weight and bringing down my blood glucose to normal and keeping it there.
Whatever approach you choose has to be enjoyable otherwise it will be hard to sustain long term.

My HbA1c count is 52
That means you are really just in the bottom or the range that gives a diabetes diagnosis, the threshold is anything over 47mmol/mol.
Some modest changes should be sufficient, paying attention to reducing the high carb foods and looking at your portion sizes.

Welcome to the forum @Tottenham1967

Well done of your great weight loss and the positive changes you’ve made so far!

Whatever you are doing is clearly working well for you! We have a number of forum members who have used weight loss to move their diabetes towards or into remission.

Good luck, and keep doing what you are doing!
