Hi
Joined here yesterday.
I’m a type 1 diabetic diagnosed in 2006 at the age of 34! My sister was diagnosed same year at age 24 and our mum had been a diabetic since she was aged 4.. so definitely runs in our family!
Always looking for help with neuropathy as I have it bad in my feet.. very little feeling now so I face plant quite a lot!
Looking forward to reading lots of info and getting loads of hints and tips!
Thanks

Good morning Samantha, from another late starter with T1 (53)
Sorry to hear you are having such difficulties with neuropathy.

If you are happy to tell us more about how you manage your diabetes it will help us in our responses.
What insulin(s) are you using?
Are you on injections or a pump?
Are you using a sensor such as Libre?

I have learnt sommany practical tips about managing my diabetes from others on here.
I hope that you can find it as useful.

Welcome to the forum @SamanthaDawn

Sorry to hear about the loss of sensation in your tootsies. Must make things really tough.

From posts by members with nerve pain, it seems that keeping BG variation low can really help reduce flare ups - but I’m not sure if the same would be the case with sensation.

Do you get pain too? Or is it more of a mobility issue?

Are there any things that you struggle with in particular with your BG juggling?

Have you ever been offered a course like BERTIE or DAFNE?

I have PND all over my feet and find that using a stick for balance is very helpful.
