When you've got one, just remember that there is no such thing as the everything goes to plan plan. My starter is to look, listen learn and buy a note book to write important stuff in - including your plan with enough room for replacing it with plans B to Z. I'm sure somebody will be along with something more definitive but nowhere near as succinct.

Everyone has a different route.

My plan wasn't to control diabetes, I wanted to reverse it.

I lost 5 stones on a calorie controlled low fat diet, followed by the Newcastle diet.
I now eat a normal balanced diet, no meds, and maintain being diabetes free.

I’m also doing the Newcastle diet. Once I’d got past day 3 sticking with the diet was just fine, I’m actually pretty content with it. Had a week of feeling rough, but that’s well worth it for the pay off.

Really useful comments.

Practical solutions welcome - e.g I am used to taking sandwiches to work each day and need to find a low carb solution

Wraps made with lettuce instead of bread? Low carb soup?

Burgen bread is a good alternative if you can’t give up the sandwiches, it’s a soy and linseed lower carb option many of us eat.

Diabetes means you can't cope with high amounts of carbohydrate.
Stop eating high carb foods, lower your blood glucose to normal levels.
Most type twos find that they can eat low carb foods and that having a meter helps them to keep in the normal ranges.
