Hello, and welcome to the forum. We don’t bite, honest! How have the diabetes years treated you?

Robin, swift reply , I was thinking not to bad but the more I'm reading posts on here, now I'm not too sure lol. Is it just me or are alot of type 1 on here on the pump. My hb1c is currently sitting about 52. Would love to get it to 50.

Ha! Just happened to be passing by the thread at the right time!
I think there are probably a disproportionate number of people here on a pump, because it’s an area where people naturally want to compare notes with others. I’m not on a pump, and I doubt I'd qualify for one, I seem to potter along quite nicely on MDI, with the aid of the Libre, which has certainly been a game changer for me.

I definitely need to get used to the lingo lol. I take it MDI is multiple daily injection. I do agree though that the libre is a bit of a game changer. Just felt as if the time was right for me to join a group of like minded people.

Yes, it is. I'm afraid I’ve slipped into acronym-itis since I joined the forum. There is a useful list of what they all mean here, for future reference!
Theres also a useful thread called 'Group 7 day waking average' which was started for people to post their morning readings, but which has evolved into a daily chatty thread for people to greet each other. Do join in that, if you’d like to, it’s a good way of ‘meeting' others and comparing notes, (and not just about your Glucose readings).

Welcome to the forum @James 71 from one of those pumpers on here.

If you want to tap into other’s experience you have come to the right place. Most of us on pumps will have had a period on MDI so can chip in but there are also plenty of people on here using Multiple Daily Injections (MDI). If you don’t understand anything just ask. No one will mind.

Some of the strategies that I found helped me to reduce my HbA1c was
- timing of my bolus at meal times
- using the Libre sensor to identify certain foods to avoid (for me-we are all different)
The Libre also helped in many other ways too.

If you are happy to let us know which insulins you are using that can help us modify our responses.
I look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome to the forum @James 71

Glad to have you here!

All the best people were diagnosed about 30 years ago 😉:D

I hadn’t really ever met or compared notes with anyone else with T1 before (at least not anyone who’s experience seemed to be anything like mine)

Suddenly I had access to all sorts of different ideas, shared experiences, management styles, tips and familiar stories.

I reckon I learned more in 2 years than I had in the previous 10.

And I’m still learning new things every week now!
