Hello, I am new to this site. I have had diabetes for 11 years and have struggled with dreadful insulin resistance. My Hba1c's have been shocking over the years and totally disheartening. 3 months ago my consultant prescribed me Humulin U500 insulin (5 times strength of normal insulin, for those who not aware of it). I am now injecting miniscule amounts of 10 units a time and have never had such good readings. I have occasional hypo's too which were unheard of for me! I used to be on a carb ratio of 2.5 units for 10g and a correction of 1.5 for 1. My blood sugars were regularly in their high 20's and I was exhausted all the time.
I now feel disappointed with myself if I have a reading above 10, although I rarely go higher than 12 these days.
Before starting this new insulin my last Hba1c was 96. I am due another test next month and am excited to see what it will show.
Just wondered if any other people were using U500 at all and whether it had worked for them too!
Looking forward to chatting to lots of people.
