My name is Susie. I have had Type 1 since 1969 and I currently use a Libre Freestyle 2 sensor and I take FIASP and Levemir. Life has changed so much for me since using the sensor but my blood sugars are often inexplicable!!

My husband was diagnosed with Type 2 about 3 years ago but has changed his diet and is so far doing well. We are both vegetarians but this can increase the carbs!
Are there any other veggie diabetics out there?!

Welcome to the forum. There are quite a few people who are veggie or almost veggie both Type 1 and Type 2.
Can't help with Type 1 issues but this link has some veggie meal plans and recipes suitable for Type 2 who are following a low carb regime. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/ It may give you some ideas.
There are plenty veg which are low carb, sguash, swede, celeriac and pasta made from edamame or black beans which are much lower carb than wheat based pasta.

Hi @vEgesue and welcome to the forum - I use a Libre, Levemir, and Fiasp too - Snap! Not a vegetarian myself but there are many here who are - hopefully they can give you some tips (I wouldn't have a clue I'm afraid!) - glad you have found us 🙂

Welcome @vEgesue
I eat a primarily vegetarian diet (I occasionally eat fish but no meat).
I also manage my diabetes with Fiasp.
When I first started Fiasp, it seemed inexplicable but over time, I realised the speed which it started working was dependent upon by BG. When my BG is in the 4s, Fiasp starts working immediately (before I digest the food) and when my BG is in double figures, it can take a hour to start working.
I mention this in case it is the kind of inexplicable behaviour you are experiencing.

Hello and welcome @vEgesue

I’ve been vegetarian for 40+ years & tend to stick to similar carb value meals most days just because it uses less headspace calculating carbs & reduces the chances of swinging bg levels. I know what to expect/hope my bolus will do and usually it works out apart from the random inexplicable days when my diabetes goes rogue.

I changed to Lyumjev insulin last year and having got used to its rapid onset I find it a lot better for managing things but it has taken some tweaking and a few surprise values along the way!

Welcome to the forum @vEgesue

Well done on your 50+ years with T1 - glad you have access to Libre2 (soon to be switching to Libre 2+ I believe).

I’m not veggie personally, but live in a house with all vegetarians, so I eat vegetarian almost exclusively. Though I still eat meat sometimes when eating out.

I find it depends very much recipe to recipe whether veggie adds much in the way of carbs. How are you with pulses? I find they hardly impact my BG and I can almost ignore them, but some folks here find they act very like regular carbs.
