So pleased to be part of your Forum.

I was diagnosed Type2 four years ago, at a routine check-up for another health matter and so thankful that I took a sample with me on that day - didn't usually bother as no-one ever asked me for one, but this particular day I did.

Prescribed Metformin, starting at two a day and now on 4 a day.

Had my latest HBa1c result this morning and my average over the last 4 months was 6.7. I am quite pleased with that as is my nurse.

I struggle sometimes with my diet - I mainly try to eat low carb but sometimes I find I crave carbs. I need a certain amount of fat as I have osteoporosis as well and been told I need to eat dairy foods.

Thank you and I look forward to joining in with you all.

Welcome to the forum, Janey.🙂

Haven’t been to North Wales since the last time we sailed to Ireland from Holyhead, much to my shame. Love North Wales, proper hills.

Is it still raining?:D

Hi,

Welcome to the forum. You must be so pleased with yourself with that HBa1c, the low carb diet must be working also with the Metformin. I am also on four a day - I often wonder how much they assist or is it the diet, however as long as the BGLs are at the level they are I will continue to just wonder... How do you manage with the dairy foods? I do cheese and yogurt. I have soya milk so am not sure if that counts but it is full of protein 🙂

Thank you Sharron1. Yes I am well pleased with the result this time, as the previous one was 9.3. My DN seems to be of the mind that it is diet and not so much the Metformin, but I don't know really, and will also keep on taking them with a view to dropping one tablet shortly and see how I go. I have the natural yogurt but not the low fat one. I do like cheese - but my cholesterol was a little high this time, so will have to watch the amount of cheese I have. I so miss not being able to just go to the cupboard and pick what I want without wondering if it will give me trouble. I eat to my meter most days, but drop off the wagon now and again. Not tried soya milk, will give that a try.
