Hi everyone, my son was 18 months old when he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It was a shock to the system for us. He is now almost 4 and has been on a pump since he was diagnosed pretty much as he really didn't get on with injections (he thrashed so much he would snap the needle) and his night time hyos were awful! Hopefully I will meet some fellow neurotics - or reassurance that I need not be so anxious about it all the time! Many thanks, Amanda

Not in your situation at all but I can point out the obvious! You must be doing something right, I suspect you are doing a lot of things right..
swap out neurotic and anxious for caring and attentive and I think it's all on the right track. Having said that there are neuroses that work their way in! By-products of being human I suppose. Can't help but feel for the little boy but he's where he is now because of what you have done for him..so allow yourself a moment or two..

Welcome to the forum you have come to the right place. Everyone is helpful and supportive.you will be well looked after.

Thanks very much for this! He is a star, bless him. He's fine with the insulin canula but he detests the sensor needle. Catch 22 because he hated the daily regular needles and we need to monitor him in the night. Scary as that alarm might be, we're very grateful for the new technology available!

Like I said, I can do the obvious.. !
I feel for those here and before that didn't have what is available now, but yes I feel that a couple of gadgets have made life a lot easier. Glad to hear you are mostly on top of it. There are people here with all kinds of experiences.. lots of ideas and so on that they share. Its a good place to be.
