Think of them as being around £100 a month (there are a couple that are a bit less, and some more). Which is (in my opinion, anyway) likely more than one would be worth to you for the moment.

Better (in my opinion) to start with test strips (see the thread at the top of this forum which gives a couple of meters that are decent and have cheap test strips).

In my opinion, you would be better to stick with finger pricking which although not zero cost as you have to buy test strips, it would give you useful information on which to make dietary changes. The money would be better spent on good quality foods.
This link may help you with planning a way forward with your dietary changes.

As you are only just in the diabetic zone some modest changes may be all that is needed, cutting out a few of the high carb big hitters and reducing portions of others.

Welcome to the forum @CHIPPER

Hope you find a way of monitoring your diabetes that gives you the information you need, in a way that you find useful and helps you spot patterns and improve your diabetes management.

If your HbA1c is 48, you are at the bottom edge of the diabetes zone, so you may find that some fairly modest tweaks to your menu could have a significant and positive effect 🙂
