Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Dear Members,

I am so glad I finally found this forum.
I joined this only today and this is my firstever post to this forum.
I have been diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 few years ago. Since then I am on below medicines:

Metformin - 1000mg x 2
Gliclazide - 80mg x 1
Sitagliptin - 100mg x 1 ( this I have started only a week back).
Weight - 105Kg
Height - 6'3"

My sugar levels are always over 10mmol. I have been trying one of other thing to control the sugar level but it appears nothing is working. Very recently I have bought book "The Complete Guide to FASTING" but i am not sure how much impact it is making in my efforts to control the diabetes.

Yesterday, my blood results came through and the diabetic nurse showed me a graph where my reading was 102. She said the reading should be maintained around 45-50. And hence as a result she advised me to see Diabetes Specialist in NHS and shift to Injectable Insulin (injections).

I am freaking out at the moment. I am not even sure where to start. I have been reading posts on this forum and that has helped me to build a little hope in me... to reverse (or say control) diabetes.

I am looking forward for all the use ful thread of forum gurus who have already controlled this..

Thanks.

Hello Chetan. Good for doing some research. Carbs do the damage. keep a diary of what you eat & what effects your bg. It may be easy to see a pattern. Good luck 🙂

Are you eating starchy foods or sugary fruits? They are the usual culprits in the blood sugar in double figures cases.
If you actually need insulin, as in not making enough then there is little you can do but eating low carb for the lucky or 'ordinary' type twos usually means blood glucose drops to normal and weight begins to reduce - though on the medications you are taking you would need to be very careful and test your levels a lot because it really does work.
